The first three times the phrase “we don’t know what was in those 120 pages” came up I was definitely hearing the number 116 instead!

  • Olivia

I’m gonna go ahead and say… One of the best intros you guys have done yet. Well done, Seb and infants. I’m a little surprised some sort of conspiracy-ish theory regarding the church, the church’s lawyers, and the dismissal of the care didn’t come up. I personally don’t think that, but I figure some people might and was hoping you would discuss that.

  • Mike

Loved the intro, hilarious. You mentioned a podcast on the Late War in the works. Very much interested in hearing some quorum ruminations and wisecrackery on the striking parallels with the BoM.

Thanks for the Afterglow. Made my day 🙂

I think you can get out of the temple covenant charge. 🙂

The endowment ritual is tantamount to an unconscionable contract, signed under duress: There is no legitimate way to find out what’s in the contract before you commit to it. You are given an opportunity to “withdraw” before anything is explained, but you’d be doing so in front of assembled friends and family and due to the cultural atmosphere, they’ll all think horrible things about you if you do leave. The result of this coercion is that most people go through it, even if they aren’t comfortable with it.

    • Olivia

sounds about right! That’s exactly how I felt the first time.

  • Flackerman

You guys never fail to crack me up. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Tom had just focused on the first two points in the summons, and worded them a little better. There is an orchestrated deception about the translation method of the BofM and inaccurate translation of the BofA. When Phillips strayed into the arena of challenging authentic religious beliefs (like Adam and Eve) in court, that doomed his case.

    • Glenn

Thanks Flackerman. I enjoyed your youtube video on the subject. You made some excellent points. The misrepresentation in the artwork of the BOM translation process is a very real and easily supported approach. I wish I had thought of that!

Judge Riddle concluded that the truth claims couldn’t be tied to Thomas Monson. Will the Church’s attorneys advise Monson and subsequent Church Presidents to steer clear of the controversial truth claims in the future?
