Okay, I have to fill in the story on the guy who forgave the driver that killed his whole family. I agree with Glenn and Matt’s comments on this one. I read the guy’s book with my church book group, (That’s me showing my Mormon cred for you.)?so I’m totally an expert now. 😉

Backstory: When the man was a young, new driver, a little kid ran into the street in front of his car and was killed. He had to deal with the hirt and guilt that comes with accidental vehicular manslaughter. So, when He learned that the driver who killed his family was a young, drunk driver, he could put himself in that kid’s shoes. He didn’t want the kid to end up ruining the rest of his life due to the guilt he felt.
I think in incidences like that, where the damage is accidental and the wronged can sympathize with the offender, forgiveness comes more easily.

I think in cases like this, where the damage was accidental and the wronged can sympathize with the offender, forgiveness comes more easily than when the offender had malicious intent.

Great discussion, but aren’t you guys ignoring the elephants in the room, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, etc.
